Twinkle star, so far and fair and bright,
I love you still, still wonder if you see
How precious is your diamond spark to me
Set beside a ring of lunar light.
My Hope, my guiding light and evening star,
A wind shall breathe and blow, your cradle rock,
But steady runs my silver sail to dock
From emerald seas to embrace you from afar.
Now starts my song, as playtime doth take flight
You're tucked abed beneath the new moon's rim,
Yet Hope, to me your light shall never dim.
So sleep my little one, lay thee down tonight
And listen, safely rest where God is nigh
While poetry lasts, you'll hear my lullaby.
